Space & Your Body

Hello!

This is my first article and I am super excited to share some thoughts with you.  My intention is to stimulate conversation that will improve your relationship with your body, your thoughts and environment.

Most problems and health concerns are an issue of lack of space.  As a bodyworker, Yoga Therapist and coach, I witness time and time again how positive and focused intervention can create space and produce healing.  The craziest thing is that the part of us that is cramped, jammed up or cluttered whether it be a joint, our thinking or our arteries effect our entire being.  The good news is that when we apply an intervention like a coaching tool for thoughts, a Pilates reformer session for our spine or a cleaner diet, it in turn, provides energy and healing for mind, body and spirit.  Today, I worked with a client that was experiencing pain in her chest and after eliminating heart issues as the cause has an appointment for a mammogram to rule out breast cancer.  She has not slept for 2 days and has been in a chronic worry loop.  After talking for a few minutes and guiding her back into her body, she automatically took some deep breathes creating space in her lungs, rib cage and spine.  When asked what her body wanted in that moment, she decided to get a 30 minute massage from me.  The chest pain eased and even though she still has this test ahead of her, she reported enjoying the rest of her day and sleeping through the night.

Another client of mine that is working with me on Pilates Reformer to improve his golf swing and create more range of motion after back surgery.  He has been complaining about his shoulder so I offered to do some myofascial release on it while guiding him through a mindbody technique.  His shoulder muscles returned to their normal resting length allowing his shoulder blade to be in a healthier position.  We created space in his body and between his thoughts and his entire being became relaxed, content and brighter.

We can change how we feel and improve how the body functions by creating space from any portal, physical, emotional & mental.
